964 Engine Compression #'s
starting the work to put into my track car.
It's not an engine I plan to tear down, I have a race engine
rebuild in progress.
Just checking the health of this interim engine.
I'm new to the air cooled engines, I've found that there is
usually a range for each type of engine that I've tested in the past.
What sort of #'s should I be looking for with compression
and leakdown tests?
thanks,
mike
Do a leakdown test, thats FAR more useful than compression testing as it not only provides real-world results, but allows you to pinpoint the source of any observed cylinder leakage.
2%-4% is like new
5%-10% is fine
10%-15% is something to investigate
20% or more is a problem.
