Default Valet showing some 964 respect...

On Saturday, I went to the local casino to see my buddy's Rush tribute band (Anthem) play. The weather was nice, so I decided to take the 964. And, to commemorate the occassion, I went for Valet parking. She received lot's of looks from the guys in Valet as I pulled in, and the quickest one was waiting outside my door before the car came to a stop. I unbuckled, checked the odometer, and left her running as he handed me my ticket.

As I entered into the casino, I walked past 2 security guards talking to each other. One of them blurted out, "Check out the Porsche!" Obviously they didn't see that it was mine, so I turned and said that it was a '93. "That's yours? How fast have you had it going?". When I told them, one of them immediately turned and walked outside to check it out. Meanwhile, his co-worker wanted to know what my quarter-mile times were! When the security guard comes back in, he says, "That thing is rumbling out there!". So, I suppose that the bypass pipes do give it a bit of a mean exhaust rumble

Anyway, I popped out of the casino a little latter that night for some fresh air, and was honored to find that the Valet has decided to put her on display, right in front of the Casino entrance. I thought that was a nice show of respect.

Great looking car. I had a similar experience at a hotel in Palm Springs. Every time we walked out the main entrance I saw my car was parked up front and this was during the Palm Springs Vintage Car Races some years ago.

Very cool photo! However...

There are two things in life that I don't share, my 964 and my wife;-)

I'd never ever let a valet drive my car, curious to know what the laws/insurance rules are in the US should a valet happen to burn your clutch, buzz the engine and/or crash your car???

Thanks everyone! It was a proud moment to see her put on display like that.

I definitely had some reservations with leaving her in valet's hands. It was a risk. You never know if an over-exuberant valet might not be able to resist temptation - I know that I would have been tempted! But I try to be generous with exposing others to my passion for these mechanical masterpieces. And, as it turned out, they only took the car a couple of feet to put it on display. Maybe they saw me talking to security, and figured that they'd better keep a close eye on it!
