I believe that you can use the ISV to adjust the idle speed. I believe that you need to access the adjustment screw by removing a plastic coating, but it can be done.

However, we'd be interested to know why you wanted to adjust the idle. If it's to prevent stalling with a LWF, then this method isn't the cure (from what I understand).

As Tom said, idle speed is controlled by the software.

The ISV's have no adjustablity, but one can carefully modify the ISV to make it adjustable and through a short period of trial & error, get the idle speed you want.

If you are idling at 900 RPM when hot, thats well above the normal 750 RPM and you may either have aftermarket chip in there with a modified idle speed or a problem that the Motronic system is trying to compensate for.

or the rpm guage is slightly out of tolerance.

i had a sticky needle. pulled out the tacho. cleaned. replaced needle but probably not in the perfect calibrated position. reinstalled. still works fine but i'm sure the calibration of the tacho is not +/- 1rpm!!

I want to pass to 1050 rpm to try to solve a problem with oil light pressure. at 950 rpm my oil pressure is 1, but at 1050 rpm is 1,3-1,4.

My car is Tip, and when is hot ( 900-950 rpm and 1 bar) if I put D, It goes to 750 rpm and oil pressure to 0,6-0,7. Light doesn't switch on but If I'm moving and I brake It switch on!

Regards.

is your oil pressure sender correct?
Are you low on oil? I'd check the obvious first...?

I have been following your thread Mc.Queen 964 as I have a tiptronic, although I haven't had such an oil light problem. Pressure does drop on mine to about 0.75 bar when the engine temp is at the 9pm position when at the traffic lights if in gear, so I always select neutral and it moves upto 0.9-1 bar as the revs increase slightly.

I think some good advice has been offered already - check the pressure sender and try 15W50 or 20W50good quality oil. Maybe consider a manual switch to bring on the oil cooler earlier - this might make a difference. I don't think having the car idling faster when stationary is a good idea and what's more it will pull more on the brakes when at the traffic lights and use even more petrol.........

I have installed a manual override switch for the cooling fan, and it brings the temps down to about 8:00 on the gauge no matter how hot it gets.
