Default Perfect Power Strut Brace Install Question...Spacer Washers???

I just received my Perfect Power Strut Brace yesterday and proceeded to install it on my C4. The instructions say one might need to add spacer washers to the inboard mounting holes to keep the Allen nut from threading too far and thus pushing your Allen key out of the nut.

Have any of you guys had to use spacer washers in your install?

An otherwise beautiful piece of engineering but to me seems like they could have billeted the inboard holes to the appropriate depth so one wouldn't have to go find washers that will fit in the hole. The only reason I can think of is to make the bar compatible with 993s as well if they have shorter inboard bolts?

I went ahead and answered my own question as it became apparent that you wouldn't be able to torque down the inboard Allen nuts without some spacer washers. I added two washers to each of the inboard holes before putting the lock washer on, then the Allen nut. Torqued to 18 ft-lbs (24 Nm).

It must be this way to make the product compatible with 993 installations.

Now it's off to test drive!
