Default A/C Recharge Time 134A

So I drove my car to work today on Long Island and decided to test out the A/C as it was getting humid. It would only blow warm air. I assume there is a leak in the system and I could use a recharge. It was mentioned in one the service records from last year when I bought the car.

So I think I am going to make a trip to Advance Auto Parts (Full Disclosure, I'm a stockholder, so that is MY store of choice) and buy a can of 134A for $30 odd dollars and see if I can get'er going again.

If anyone has any tips/tricks/sage words of wisdom I'd love to hear it before I jump in the engine bay tonight.

I do not really use the A/C much but it sure is nice to have when you need it.

.....are you sure that it has 134? Look for retrofit caps on the compressor, and don't overfill it!

I'm nearly certain. there is a service record from a few years ago that shows 134A conversion and recharge.

Thanks! I've done all service myself so far but I am looking for someone when the going gets tough.

no problem. I just find sometimes he is not much more then if you did it yourself. Part costs are part costs and he is very resonable.

If your system is flat, no refrigerant at all you should evacuate the system first.
