Carnewal advising against H&R reds on a C4
I'm talking to Carnewal about some new springs and shocks. I'm pretty sure I want H&R Reds as I prefer a harder ride.
Gert Carnewal is insistent I should use H&R greens, I'm not being a burk here am I? H&Rs are only marginally stiffer than M030 on the rear and seem within normal parameters, right?
Here's what Gert's telling me
I'm pretty sure the spring rates for all 911s are always higher on the rear anyway, and certainly for all the H&R spring rates I've seen.
Shall I just tell him to suck it up and ship the damn reds?

As said, the spring rates of the turbo are not suitable for the 964C2 or C4.
You will end up with a rear end that has a higher spring rate than the front.
I suggest to go with the proper springs that were made for the C2/C4.

You've answered all three of your questions here properly.
I just wonder why he would say such a thing. Iffn he has a stock problem and is trying to pass off springs you don't want - shame on him; this tells all.

I have only ever heard extremely positive things about Carnewal and would be surprised if he was trying you dissuade you from buying the reds due to stock issues. I am sure that he believes in the advice he is giving, whether it is correct or not is a different matter.

Thanks guys, I was aware of Gert's reputation with folks on here so I that's why I was a little surprised he seemed so averse to the reds for a c4.
Anyway Gert has since seen this thread and got in touch with me to confirm he can supply the reds and has them in stock.

Not knowing what the actual spring rates are on any of these units, anyone care to elaborate? I've run nearly everything under the sun on the '92 C4, RSA #1, and RSA #2 (not to mention both the 993 C4S and faux 993RS). Everything pretty much stays consistent within the overall weight distribution, front/rear split-wise. Unless you're running Willow Springs (or comparable)..............
