Default Paint care products?

Since I've been waiting two months for my last GlaussHouse (sp?) products . . . I need a new recommendation for paint care products.

I have proffesional orbital polishers, etc.

Looking for pollishes and carnuba waxes for my '05 997 and '92 964

Thanks in advance.

I use 3M Hand Glaze as a polish and The Wax Shop SuperGlaze wax. But I suggest asking the concours forum. They are the experts.

I just did a big paint conditioning my car. This is a great article on single stage paint.

^ Great article. Fun to watch the shine come out of that old Lincoln too.

Is the car in question the black one in your avatar? Turtle Wax's "Black Box" has a lot of fans as a simple all-in-one line of products. 964 black is a single-stage paint and black tinted products definitely help.

If you really want to go crazy, I think the plan is something like:

- clay bar by hand
- random orbiter with a light polish
- ra with wax
- wipe off wax by spraying detailing wax onto a microfiber towel

For general upkeep I usually just rinse the car with water and a cotton towel, then spray it down with detailing wax. A "California Dash Duster" type of duster is great for keep garage dust off too, which seems to accumulate overnight on a black car.

Search the concours section though for what the pros do.

My favorite line "black isn't a color, it's a job".

I did not want to be too aggressive with the 21 year old paint. I will hit a few areas with a little more cut next time to sort out some deeper blemishes.

This is what I did last time.
  • Wash
  • Clay
  • Meguiars - #7 Show Car Glaze (2 coats over 24 hours)
  • Meguiars - M80 Speed Glaze
  • Wolfgang - Finishing Glaze 3.0
  • Poorboys - black hole show glaze
  • Meguiars - M26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax (good for black)

It took days to do and looked good for about 10 minutes until it got coated with yellow pollen.

I should have taken photos when I finished it. It looks like a yellow dusted black car now:-( I still have some micro marring on the hood, I think I need to work the m80 longer. I am sure that after a few years I will be a pro at black paint.

GTechniq.

I've used plenty, and the C1 is without doubt the best stuff I've ever used.

Hardly a need to apply detergents to wash down, powerwash off and its almost perfect. You have to see it to believe it really, the C5 i used on my Audi A3 wheels was still working 1 year and 23k later.

Here's my usual detailing ritual:

•Wash with 2 bucket method
•Assess paint and use clay bar where needed
•Dodo Juice Lime Prime polish / cleaner
•Poor Boys Black Hole (filler compound)
•Poor Boys EX-P (sealant)
•Dodo Juice Supernatural Carnuba Wax (2 coats)
•Dodo Juice Red Mist Quick detailer with carnuba
