Default Emergency Brake Pad issue?

OK, so i replaced all 4 rotors, and installed new racing pads. On the way down to Laguna Seca, about 80 miles, I kept getting the smell of burning brake pads. I did 6 sessions at Laguna, and the smell was bad for all six.

What I'm wondering is if when I put on the new rotors, I should've backed the emergency brake pads back using the knurled ****. I just left them in the same location when I put on the new rotors.

I suggest that you jack up the rear and spin / rotate a wheel and feel for drag .
It might be a good idea to pull the rear rotors and look to see that everything is at it should be .

Good idea about the spin. I'll give that a try this evening.

I'm off to buttonwillow this weekend, so I'll remove the rotors before going down there. Don't want fire coming out of the rear of the girl.

Did you clean the rotors with brake cleaner before installing? When you get them new, they usually have a bit of oil on them to prevent them from rusting.

The rears rotate without significant resistance. Wondering if one of the clips came off and the shoe is loose. I'll check that.
