Help! With 993 door handle pls! Not working :(
Hi,
So the car is in the shop having the door handles replaced... ( would have done it myself but it's in there anyway ) ...apparently the pins are too short....
I thought they were a direct swap, the locking barrels swap straight over and then it's just a case of reinstalling, no?
The door closes but then a 'pin' is too short to release/ open the door once again.
Some help would be much appreciated, thanks.

I'm at the shop now, it seems the n/s handle's pin is sheared off!
The off side is the correct length!
They're definitely 993 handles.
Just wrote an email to the seller that I bought them from. Damn!
I'll post pictures later. I'm livid.

The 993 handles are a direct swap trust me, the hardest part is having the door panels on and off and making sure you don't drop the tiny little screw on the inside......which you then make a real point of not doing again on the other side.
With the door panel off it is a great idea to make sure you have the plastic membrane intact as it helps keep water out of the car-thanks to the dead men walking that keyed your car I take it you park outside.
I love the look with aero mirrors and I agree with your other posts that they better suit the car with our bumpers. 964s are a transition car, to me one of the greatest 911s ever but it doesn't hurt to steal a few of the good ideas its younger brother got like proper matching handles....Twists too.
From your Avatar I see you are in Residents Parking? Where abouts in London are you?
Best of luck with the car, your wheels are amazing and I love the stance.

Problem solved! Got the car back, handles look great. I know the car is black and the original handles were black, but the aero shape works with 964 bumpers and aero mirrors. I agree
My great body shop guy, managed to swap over the sheared pin with one from the old handles.
Thanks guys.
I'm based in Chiswick, that picture was taken as I waited for a friend in Notting Hill. However seeing as lots of new details have taken place new pictures will be taken soon...

Car looks great Frank
So, is it an easy swap from 964 to 993 door handles, with just the locks to pop out and re-instal?
I always thought you needed to use the full 993 locks and swap the 964 ignition lock.

Yup it's an easy job ( if your 993 handles don't have a pin sheared like mine did ), no need to replace ignition barrel, just the locks in the handles to swap over. They look even better in person... And on a clean car!

Not as good as on a white car.
Just did mine yesterday. Be sure to clean your cylinders and lubricate. Be careful none of the the tumbler slides come out and a spring pops out.
here is a DIY

Well, months after my last post on 993 door handles I finally fitted them. About 4 hours to strip down the doors, swap lock barrels and replace door cards.
Other projects came and went, but I decided i'd better get them on before the first show!
