Default Euro Headlamp Lens? Anyone?

Anyone have any experience using/buying the Bosch H4 European headlamp lens? My front left got vandalized and need to replace it, but the U.S Bosch version is $175 whereas the "European" one is only $38. I could buy two of the euros to match and save a lot of cash. Any experience with these?

The H4 lens is just a lens, whereas the H5 lens is a one piece unit including the lens, bonded to the reflector and hole for the bulb to screw into. They are not interchangeable.

argh, i think i get your drift Laker. So i can't just replace the lens thats cracked, but the whole unit? that sucks campOj2....at my house in Cape St. Scare(Claire). I've been having dirt bag kids fk with my cars since moving into that neighborhood. Apparently the benz and porsches conflict with rusted Pickup trucks so they try to take the pretty paint jobs and shiny cars down a notch. Probably also doesn't help that I don't have a Fire Man pissing on Ford sticker, Bad Boy Club, or fart can muffler strapped to my honda civic Seems duchebaggery starts early in this ****ty neighborhood. I'll be moving soon. Vent over. Oh, on an aside I saw a nice red 964 cab at Grauls on sunday. He was cool, wonder if he is a rennlister, or was that you? lol still haven't seen your picks yet.

I was up in St Claire last week for a little league game, I didn't think it was that much of sh^t hole. I have a GPW 964, I did see the red 964 couple of times last week, I haven't had the chance to shoot the **** with the guy who owns it, usually we're in opposite direction traffic.

The cat is out the bag, the wife was able to connect the dots a couple of weeks ago when a package showed up at the door from a west coast Porsche dealer. I remember the quote, "honey, why is there a package from a Porsche dealership? We don't own a Porsche?" Uhmmm, well, "we" sort of do. Needless to say I was in the dog house for a while of that stunt.

Pictures? Here are some pictures, I had the body shop address a minor issue, then the aero mirrors and 993 door handles showed up. The entire passenger side got painted and they did such a wonderful job that now the rest of the car is getting paint

wow!, I have fallen in love with white 964s of late. I think they look fantastic. Good job, i'm really happy to see the pics! Yeah, I've had problems with the cape since the day i stepped into the neighborhood. Apparently it has had a culture of vandalism and i'm "apparently" one of the prime targets. So i will be moving shortly. I've had enough. If I could, i would hunt the fkers down and beat them senseless, but you just can't do that to little kids nowadays

Wait, let's be clear... do you have the stock H5 setup in your car, or the Euro H4? Look on the lens of the surviving one, and let us know what you see. It will be molded into the glass right at the center. H5s should be widely available from owners, as many have done the H4 conversion. They're a different beast- as the H5 is a whole assembly, but you can get the H4 front glass only. (What Laker was saying... )

You might also want to look into H4s if you haven't already. Much better light. You can search here for days worth of reading on the subject.

I believe he had H5 and was wondering why (just) the H4 lens wouldn't fit.

while you are there, put in the euro rear glass without the stop light and add the 993 light on the outside.
from the pics it looks like H4s in the car
911 631 113 02 is the complete light
911 631 927 00 is lens $60 from http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...&siteid=214626

the EU headlamps also have pneumatic hight regulation, hence the high price. The US lamps are sealed beam and no hight regulation.

not all the Euro H4s have the height adjustment
the regular (driving on right side of road) Euro H4 is 911 631 113 02 about $528
the vertical aiming light ( driving on right side of road) Euro H4 is 911 631 024 00 about $556
They both use the same lens. 911 631 927 00

Unfortunately the rest of the conversion to H4 isn't straightforward, as you need the right trim rings too.
