Default Engine mounts: How long do, on average, do they last?

Is it a mileage thing or a age thing? Or combo of both.

When did you (who have changed them) make the move because you could feel it was needed?

I changed my coupe's mounts at 110K miles and 19 year. I'm the third owner, no idea if they had been replaced before. I suspect there were originals. On my cab, I will be replacing them after I rebuild the engine (in progress). They are original at 230K miles. I suspect that they fail over time but am sure that how aggressively the car is driven affects the lifespan.

Data Point: '91 with 35K miles, not driven very hard - original mounts checked out fine by mechanic.

I haven't needed to yet. One of the symptoms can be popping out of gear when you punch it. If you use the engine to jack up the rear of the car, the engine should only move ~ 1cm before the rest of the car starts lifting.

(to keep things simple) Regardless of miles/age, you should change them when you see that they are sagging. Look in the engine bay...the amount they are sagging is the amount (plus some) the engine is flopping around during each turn. Not great for handling...

Replaced mine last year on my '93 Cab with 47k miles on the clock. They were shot and sagging, car definitely feels better after the replacement.
