OK, I've been shopping around for a 996 C2 cab. After looking around I have found some nice looking 964 C2 cabs that are priced better with under 100K miles. I really like the looks of the older 911's. Never driven either car before but have a 2011 Boxster. Assume this might be more like the 996? I have a 86 944 that I did a ton of work on myself. Would guess that the 964 would lend itself to being worked on by the home mechanic? I enjoy doing work/maintenance on them and upgrading with high performance addons. I would also think that the 964 would retain its value more so than the 996. A lot less 964's to choose from though. Which should I go for?

You seem like a guy who is a driver and a wrench...are you sold on the idea of a cab?

Regardless, the 964 is a great choice - for many reasons..

I’m on the same boat. I’ve been lurking for a few years and finally subscribed to RL recently.
I’m not planning on any track events, except for a DE here and there. Will the Cabrio detract “that much” from the driving experience? Someday, someday...

If you ask the 964 forum, what do you think we will say? The 964 is a great choice.

I have a 90 C4 cab - the cabriolet does not detract from the driving experience at all on a day to day basis, and even when you give it a good thrashing on some windy roads it is still pretty darn stiff. And there is nothing like wind in the hair motoring :-)
As for 996 vs 964 ? A no brainer if you liked the 944 and working on it yourself - go the 964 !

Co would be a good place for a cab for a couple months out of the year probably. If you are set on a cab fall/winter is the time to buy. And no it doesnt hurt the driving experience at all in my eyes.
