I do run the Goodyear GSD3 tires on my car. Had them for almost 4 seasons now and still love them. I don't drive the car extremely hard, but I do like to take curves at higher than posted limits. I don't AX or DE, so YMMV.

If you really want the maximum performance in a dry weather tire, that's available in 16" fitment - I don't think you can beat the Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec. It kicks butt in every comparo Grassroots motorsports puts it in. You'll replace them more often and they're going to be loud - but they are in another class of sticky than most other tires. Nearly 'r' compound.

I'm running the Hankook Ventus R-S3's which are a little quicker still, but they're only available in the 225 size in 16" and I run 17's.

I have been happy with TOYO T1R tires. This is a great wet/dry tire, not only for street use, but I had run them as my DE tires for years (now, I'm stepping up to true competition tires). I also have a set on 17's as my daily driver tire.

Guys, thank you all for your comments. I have ordered the bridgestone re-11's from tire rack.com and they are being shipped to a local installer.

I am a little nervous about having a tire shop jack the car. Has a bad experience with this before when the lift slightly damaged the plastic trim pieces along the side rails. Nothing I couldn't fix myself, but I took the wheels off at home and delivered them for for the next set. That is a bit of a pain because I need to make two trips. I may bring the car to this new shop and talk to the Manager to see what they can do to avoid any damage when lifting the car. The jack points on the car are not usable by a typical car lift.

Default tires

Just got back from a 2500 mile trip with new continental DW. Great ride, quiet, and hold well on the twisties in northern Ca.

If the money was in my budget for the summer I would buy a set now but I need to put it towards my KW coilovers and recaros.
Got the RE-11's installed today and I must say I am totally stoked. Quieter and grippier than the Michelin Pilot Sport Mx's that I had on there. I ordered through tirerack.com and went through with one of their 5-star recommended tire shops locally, "Big Brand Tire", for the balance/installation. I was a bit worried about the lift, but they were extremely attentive, took care to understand my concern about the use of the jack points, used portable jacks, did a nice job with the valves, nitrogen fill etc. I was very happy with their work. Would not hesitate to recommend the shop. Not bad about 800 USD total including tires, shipping and installation.

Hey all. After finding a screw in my tire this morning I found myself in a situation I hadn't planned. On one hand I'm out a few hundred bucks I hadn't planned on. On the other, I get new tires and a pass from the wife for another Porsche expenditure since it wasn't my fault (this time). I was going to get the Continentals but the Tire Rack was out...so opted for the Dunlop Direzzas. It looks like there's a $80 rebate right now too.

Thanks for this thread. Remembered it being out here but didn't plan to use it so soon.

Was going to get a set of R888's, but will try the Yoko AD08's since I will be driving to the track on them. Sized 225/45/17 & 255/40/17 on cup 1's. 7" & 9".
Anyone have this combo ?

Just started running Bridgestone SO2 225 & 255 on Cup1s... N3 rated and only $500 including installation.

They perform just fine... a little loud, but everything else is just fine. Less understeer than with the 205s up front.

Getting hard to find though.

Another tyre worth considering is the Pirelli Rosso. N rated and come in 16s and 17s.

I've had a few sets on 964 and performed well. Am on PS2's now as got a good deal on them but unless you are giving it the beans, i doubt you'll notice. Have had similar mileage from both.

Costco has a sale on Bridgestone's until Aug 7th.
The RE 11's end up at $784 for 17" fitment. And another $30 off install.
And they use nitrogen!
