Default HEAD GASKET

my engine on early 89 964 c4 with 3.6 being rebuilt mechanic asked if i want the head gasket installed or not said i would lose some compression.i am wondering with the arp studs that he installed allowing the heads to be torqued a little tighter should i still install head gasket and sacrifice a little compression or not?and how much compression loss would we be talking about enough to notice?

I don't know how you would lose compression? from the minimal gap on the gasket? Mine was done but was done by adding the grove for the gasket. not just a gasket slapped in there

What's the formula--1 point of compression is 5HP? Anderson had it in his book from the dyno work Woods did back in the Garretson days.

In any case, as wellcraft mentioned, the CE (it's not a head) gasket doesn't change combustion chamber volume.
