Matte Paint Job
Saw a 997 in matte pink in Singapore.
Thought it looked pretty cool in a barbie sort of way. So how would my 964 look in a slightly deeper shade, also matte, with black rims? Maybe my daughter would like the car better that way. I'm man enough to drive that colour
Responses today only please.

No, would not like. Have seen BMW concepts that were matte silver that looked okay, but that was probably because it detracted from it's ugly design(z4). How many deloreans do you think look nice?

Simple questions from one not familiar with these modern (non-primer) flat paints:
When bird poop lands on it, how do you get the stuff out of the paint's pores?
And if you have to rub 'vigorously' to do so, do you end up with a shinier spot than the rest?
(If any of this is the case - uh... No, thank you.)

When I was in college, there was a pink '85 Turbo look targa that ran around town. Looks cooler in person than it sounds! lol
The matte paint BMW is offering is called "frozen". There is a frozen gray, frozen black, frozen blue, etc. I've read a little bit about it on the M3 forums and apparently, you can never polish or even wax the car. There is even a special wash to use to maintain the dull finish. These super rare colors are fetching way over MSRP though. I often wonder if this will ever be mass marketed as "lower maintenance" finish on more common cars? Maybe we will see this design trend take off. Who knows. Seems kind of impracticle if you like to keep your finish looking nice.

April fools day aside...Matte colors are very popular and with the right color (not Pink) would be very cool on the right car with the right performance mods.
As far as an earlier response to the open pores of the paint...there are matte / flat clears today that would not be any different than what you have on a normal production vehicle with regards to cleaning / durability.
Good post on April Fools day

Best thing to do, IMO is to have a fabulous paint job done (non-matte) in the colour that you like, and then cover it in a high quality matte vinyl wrap.
Don't like the matte job in a couple of years, just take the wrap off and your original paint job is protected.
Best matte colours would be blue and grey IMO. Black becomes dark brown, red become pinkish.
Seriously, there is a lady driver who has a gen 2 997 carrera in a matte pink job. Very aggressive driver too.

I love the matte/satin black paint jobs on Porsches.
like the Rauh Welt Porsches...

I love the RWH kits...too bad they cost the price you pay to buy a 964 in the first place...
