Default 964 rear glass

Hi Folks, I'm trying to help a fellow 964er in need of rear glass for a '90 coupe. Any suggestions as to suppliers of replacement Porsche glass?

Thanks much for any info.

delaware

I researched a bit & found that the glass is availible at the tune of $8-900 not including the seal. Not sure if the replacements have defrost wires & also not sure if this would be a DIY. His C4 was hit by a broken garage door spring & not covered by insurance.

I tried researching some used parts and I could not find it, did you try using LA Dismantlers or Oklahoma Foreign? You have to find someone parting out a 964 - make sure when you buy the part you get the proper insurance through USPS

Try DC auto or fleabay..also One slip installing it and you will crack it, Most shops around here dont charge that much to install glass (but they make you sign a waiver if it cracks)

Also best to replace the seal...very cost effective in the long run

Has he checked to see if it would be covered under his homeowner's insurance?

I've had good luck with DC Auto on the east coast, and PartsHeaven out west - either should have glass available.

In my state, glass is covered in full with no deductible by my insurance. If your rear window had a crack(not suggesting anything) ,it could be replaced. I always thought, that If I replaced mine, I would get the European model? , the one without the patch for the rear interior brake light. Then install an aftermarket exterior rear light/spoiler combo.(Performance has them).

newsboy - Do you have the link or part number for the rear light/spoiler combo? I'm having problems finding it on the Performance website.

Thanks
