I have not seen anyone use this yet but it looks interesting.

Porsche has just announced a Classic Navigation System that blends new-age technology with old world style and is the perfect addition to your retro Porsche. The system is available from any Porsche dealership worldwide or through their online classic parts catalog and takes the place of the classic radio system. It’s straight plug-and-play and looks as if you never altered a part at all.

The unit is a touchscreen navigation system, albeit a little smaller than new age ones. It fits most Porsche models built from 1963-1977 and retails at $776. Not a bad price all things considering and we expect it to be a hit among classic Porsche owners – especially those who always get lost.

If it's available from dealers for $776, must mean you can score one elsewhere for under $500

Thats about the only problem I have with the unit listed. once upon a time it would have done me good but now in north carolina..not so good. But i certainly do like the unit.

Here's a thread that includes the Classic's installation in a 993.

Thread.

Oh dear, looking at the photos on John's thread has made my mind up.

To me it looks to be sitting too proud of the dash and wrong for the car.

But it's a Porsche design, so I must be wrong.

Shame because I was adding this to my wish list.

Most definitely on my wishlist, however my local Porsche garage has quoted the following (for my '91 C2 964:

The Porsche Classic radio navigation system excluding Traffic Master and the Porsche logo is £922.20 fully fitted including VAT.
The Porsche Classic radio navigation system including Traffic Master and the Porsche logo is £994.56 fully fitted including VAT
The Porsche Classic radio navigation system including Traffic Master but excluding the Porsche logo is £994.56 fully fitted including VAT

any idea where I can get it cheaper??

@Bobster: Yes.

But... I had a similar little issue when I installed my Becker (though not as bad as this). In the end I found that some good old fashioned brute force had the thing retreating right into the DIN slot so that it ended up completely flush. Of course, that might not be possible with the Classic, but then again it could be.

Pic to follow, but I need to reboot my PC first. Vista...
