Happy Friday - Plans for the weekend?
I had a very productive weekend last week. I completed the 30K mile service and pulled my speedometer to repair the odometer. It took me 2+ hours on the speedo. I was very careful (nervous) to ensure I didn't damage it. Sure enough, the tiny gear was broken. I ordered a replacement via odometergears.com. The new one arrived on Wed. Great service.
This Saturday will be spent reassembling the odometer and bleeding the brakes and clutch. That will complete my winter projects list. Horay! In addition to working on the 964, I will be helping a friend change his brakes on his wife's minivan (2007 Toyota Sienna). They are grinding. I'm expecting to have to install new rotors, pads and probably a brake bleed/flush. The rest of the weekend will be painting my GF's condo in preparation of sale.
Next weekend, I will be going down to Florida to watch the Shuttle launch and to attend a mini-reunion of people I worked with on the Shuttle back in the 1980's. I haven't seen most in 25 years.
What are your plans for the weekend?
Edit: Does anyone have any advice on how to reinstall the speedometer needle without damaging the shaft? Also, I estimate that my odometer is about 6K miles low. Is there a way to move the odometer forward? Lastly, how do I recrimp the speedometer bezel?

well Rob, thanks for helping get this started. Not much for me. I had to push the Porsche into the garage the other night after a model photo session; dead battery because I never put it on a tender when it got parked for the winter. sigh........

I have not played in one of these before. Nothing planned for the 964 this weekend as I am taking the race car for dyno tunning.
964 is schedulled for Corbeau sports seats, BK harness mount, and 6 pts harness before March 26 DE. I need to figure out what to do with the rear sway bar and drop links afterwards.

Installing front struts and springs tomorrow, including RS 24 MM 5 way adjust front sway bar. I did the rears last weekend, although opted to leave the 21 MM stock bar in place for now. So far install is fairly straightforward. Looking forward to a drive at the lower ride Ht, and more aggressive set-up.
Enjoy your weekend....
Enjoy your weekend....

I need to pull the head lights out of the 996TT and polish them. Its hard to figure how a headlight they charge almost $1K for new can look so bad after 8 years and 4 of those are parked in a garage all day and night. I also have a driving light bulb out on the 964 so need to replace that.

Rob,
You can completely disassemble the speedometer and change the mileage to whatever you like. Not that I condone it but it's not that difficult to do on these cars.
The needle I just press firmly it should be fine.
Fitting the bezel wasn't difficult, the alloy is very soft, just use the top of a dining knife or a flat head screwdriver to bend it back in place. It doesn't look perfect, but once you put the rubber ring around it it's not visible anymore.
My plan for the weekend - go to the Norwalk Aquarium tomorrow with my wife and son, fly to Atlanta for the day on Sunday, then install my newly reupholstered steering wheel on the P-car on Monday. I just got a case of oil, if I have time I may change the oil on Monday as well, but it's unlikely.

No playing with the Porsche's this weekend. The wife and I are heading up to Long Beach, CA. for the weekend to enjoy the "30th Annual Raggamuffin Festival - Bob Marley Day Festival." Good music and good food at the Long Beach Arena.

Taking an hour or so road trip with the wife and 911 here. Should be fun driving through the small towns.
