Default Distributor Caps

Normally I try to buy Porsche OE parts.

Anyone know if there is a significant difference, or, for that matter, any difference between these parts:

930-602-919-01-M14 Distributor Cap
$69.50 (each)
(2 per car, sold individually) 911 Carrera 2/4 (1989-98), Each
Brand: Bosch OEM at the time of the vehicle's assembly

930-602-919-01-M47 Distributor Cap
$34.50 (each)
(2 per car, sold individually) 911 Carrera 2/4 (1989-98), Each
Brand: Beru

930-602-902-02-M14 Ignition Rotor
$31.75
911 Carrera 2/4 (2 per car, sold individually)
(1989-98), 911 Turbo, 1 Per Car, (1991-98), Each
Brand: Bosch OEM at the time of the vehicle's assembly

930-602-902-02-M85 Ignition Rotor
$6.00
911 Carrera 2/4 (2 per car, sold individually)
(1989-98), 911 Turbo, 1 Per Car, (1991-98), Each
Brand: Facet

$202 vs $81

Will the OEM parts last 2.5x longer?

Are they 2.5x better?

This car is never going to see a concourse judge, but I'd be willing to spend the money if it was warranted.

Thanks,
Dave

I have beru cables and spark plugs . They are stock .
I would have no worries with beru caps .

I don't know "facet" rotors , but rotors are stupid things , no moving parts etc .

No. (both counts.)

But after a couple year's savings, you can always assuage any guilt that's been building by springing for those way-cool Bosch parts with your savings.

(Makes me wish I'd known of your source before replacing mine last year...)

I do keep a list of suppliers, but this was a simple search on Pelican Parts! . . . Don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger . . .

I am using the Beru Caps (and Beru Wires) and Facet Rotors...No problems

The Facet Rotors are made in Italy and don't have the "look" of the Bosch but are quite servicable, the metal contact does not appear to be of the same finish as the Bosch..but then they are not visible
Once having had a Fiat 850 Spyder I try to avoid anything Italian made in my car, in this case it hasnt been a problem

When I changed mine, I did't want Facet ones, they looked cheap... bosch items looked much better to me.

Amazon has Bosch rotors for $10 each that supposedly fit my 1990. I bought two, but have not had a chance yet to try them out. They look to be correct:

Interesting link to Amazon. I continued the search and found THIS for a great price on a plug wire set. And free shipping.

I own a set of those wires from Amazon, they are made in Spain, some people have an issue with the country of manufacture.

Thanks for the tip Vin

My facet rotors will soon reside in the trunk as spares

Here is a comparison shot of the Bosch (Spanish Mfgr) vs Facet (Italian)

Bosch is about twice the weight of the facet and at ten bucks from Amazon there is simply no reason to go with facet

That's good news! I don't know if anyone is interested, but I keep a spreadsheet of part price comparisons from various web suppliers for my 1990 C2. Filters, plugs, oil return tubes, valve cover gasket kits, etc. Maybe 15 suppliers. I haven't ordered from all of them (usually just Pelican, Automotion, AutohauzAZ), but I figure why pay more? That and I'm bored some nights...

Send me a PM if you would like a copy,

Vin
