Angry Removing hood shocks (or trying**)

How do I remove the pin, the tutorial in the DIY section says to wiggle the hood to get it out, but I must be doing something wrong.

pull the top half of the clip a little, solid part facing you (with a needle nose) then the clip slides off and the pin slides out away from you.
Just changed mine this afternoon

Try to spin it with needlenose then push away from you. Don't want to scratch the paint. Mine was loose and slid right out.

Also try lifting the hood a little while working it out

God did anyone else have major problems with the passenger side damper?

I have a huge *** tube covering it not to mention a few wires and connectors
I cant even see it.

yes, it was a pain. I used electrical tape to hold the sleeve up at the top. I undid the wire connector with 12 or so pins (from memory, could be 14 or 16 pins). Tough to see the bottom. need a good work light. I undid the hood light connecter and bent the wires out of the way. I got a long *** flat bladed screwdriver on the lower clip and forced it off with a pound on the top of the screwdriver with my palm. eventually (after three tries) the lower clip popped completely off. The clip is still MIA, even after running a magnet around down there... shrapnel in the car. I'll admit it.... Marc's 15 minute job took me 45 minutes.

But when all said and done, the hood went from kinda staying up after holding it up for 10 seconds, to being like a Mercedes power lift-gate hatch that raises by itself as soon as you unlatch it....

It's not a rivet, it's a clip holding the lower end to the ball joint..... Marc's DIY shows how the clip is lowered to loosen it, gotta do the same thing. Glad you don't charge by the hour

The driver side came off easy as pie.

when looking from above, you'll notice a perfect semi-circle, except at the exact middle, there is the clip that ruins the perfect arc. that's where you have to catch the flat bladed screwdriver and push down with the palm of your hand... if you're not seeing it, perhaps you got the clip off already and the lower end will slide off horizontally?

Thats what the wierd part is I've stuck my face so far into that drunk I've felt around it I can't see it or feel it, it feels completely smooth like a circle no gap or anything to show a rings presence but yet it wont come off either.

Since when did a simple hitch become outdated

As you prep the
new shocks.....it gives an idea how the bottom clip works.

Full disclosure: I'll have this done at the shop - too much PITA for me.
