Default New or salvaged Rear Heater Motor

My Rear Heater Motor is shot. Still works, but very noisy and vibrates the car when on! and PPI says bad. I would like to replace it with new, but didn't really want to spend 500.00 on it at Pelican. Any other resources? Maybe salvage?
Thanks
J

My rear blower was working fine when I deleted it last year. Maybe a package deal with a mirror trade?

Do a forum search, I think someone found a cheaper way to replace it with a new one that wasn't Porsche.

I've got one that's on UK ebay at the moment if that's what you're after and it's of any interest to you?

Might not make financial sense to ship overseas but thought I'd offer.

I seem to remember threads on people changing out the motor in the fan and it was a whole lot cheaper.

EDIT: dont know if this is still valid

What JIMQ said, I changed mine out a few years back, just the motor itself, had to move the squirrel cage onto the new one, but no big deal, IIRC I paid around $180.00 back then.

PS. Just found THIS no affiliation.......................

I disconnected mine and still got plenty of heat, enough to last me this winter. Just do the relay jump so that you can still turn the front blowers on.

Mine was disconnected when I bought it 2 years ago, and still gives plenty of heat. If I could find an RS bypass pipe I would eliminate the fan and motor altogether. This eliminates weight, opens up the engine bay, and eliminates further worry of it going bad again. Sweet

I just ordered one. Part # I was able to find is 993 211 941 00 Before any of you order one, wait until I receive it and I will confirm that it fits. Will report back in a few days.

Solution. Factory Part. Now re numbered 993-211-941-00 Perfect fit and looks....well.....factory. Still pricey at $205, but well worth it, at least to me. I ran it just now and I got plenty of heat. The heater motor had been disconnected previously, so perhaps the bypass trick was done to avoid any fault lights by the PO. I'm very happy.

My question is what to do with the cable that plugs into the fan in 3 different places. One of them appears to be a coil attached to 2 wires. Where is the best place to hide all this?

Many thanks,

Chris

Go to This site, then "Technical", then "Electric repair & modifications"

Thanks crg53.

I assume this will actually allow the fan to operate up front. Nice. I also assume the plastic box along with the resistors are items purchased at Radio Shack.

Appreciate the help

Looks like the right item; have a look in post #7 in this thread, check the link to Vertex's site, a bit more money, but may qualify for free shipping.

Even better check THIS ONE
