Looks like a perfect Rauh-Welt candidate.

Tim,
Where did you find that pic? Do you know where the car is located? I would like to bring it back to life.

that looks like a HUGE project, and in the end it will always be a salvage title.

I think I would spend more to fix it, even doing some of it myself, than what it would be worth in the end.
good luck

Heh.
My plain-jane C2's a "93", built in March.
This turbo was built 2 months later (May) as a "94".

motor and transmission value only + interior part out. ~15-20K as it sits. the 57k repair cost is probaly not far off.
only buy it if you are going to convert something or are willing to bring it back with a salvage title (i.e. you might be able to sell it for 1/2 your repair cost not counting the price of the car.

Wouldn't surprise to find this sells as a resprayed 'used', with any words of 'salvage' thoroughly scrubbed away.
(Then some poor unfortunate will discover [after the fact] his CarFax-'clean' car's VIN associated with this salvage.)
