Attaching a high mounted rear brake light
My 964 has a high mounted brake light (from a 993?) across the rear window. It is attached with two steel brackets to the glass. The light is the type that mounts on top of the rear window and goes right across the rear window.
I have tried glueing it with rear view mirror glue about 5 times but everytime it lasts only a few weeks. I have a feeling that when it was orginally was attached it may have used some form of sticky pad rather then glue.
Has anyone out there in Rennlist land had any success with attaching a wayward brake light. Is their a repair kit available and if so does anyone know the part number?
Why it wants to leave such a great car is beyond me.
Ant suggestions are welcome.

Mine is held on with 3M double sided adhesive tape.
It's approx 1mm thick 25mm wide and the rubber/foam properties of the tape allows a bit of flexibility to the assembly. It's black tape so not obvious from inside the vehicle either.
It comes in different widths so can be cut down to the exact width of the clamp if you manage to find a wider strip.
Most bodyshops will use it to refix bodyside mouldings and I would have thought would let you have a short length to cover each fixing clamp.
It doesn't have to be 3M as there are a lot of alternative manufacturers. Try searching for 'body side moulding' or 'emblem' tape as I've seen it called.
Make sure you clean the two surfaces well and a lot of these tapes are pressure sensitive I.E the more you press it into place the stronger the application. It also helps to warm the surfaces too.
Hope this helps.
