Hello all, i have scoured the forums, found the sticker in the bonnet for my code but it does not match the ones shown at paint suppliers for my year.
Porsche- 1991 C2, tiptronic, non-turbo
Paint code in the body 980 (The L is missing but I take it to have maybe rubbed off) the sticker actually reads as below.
Metallic Silver
980 9 7
Silver Metallic
S7
Is this considered metallic polar silver? That s the only silver paint I can come up with the year model.
Mine is a 1991 "Polar silver metalic" paint code from the sticker under the hood is L 92 E. Funny thing was, a while back I had my trim ring for the headlights painted, gave the shop foreman the paint code, he said better bring the car in because there are 5 different shades of that color. True enough, he showed me the paint chips as we match them to the car.
I just found THIS CHART scroll down and you will see 92E is Polar Silver Metalic from 1991-97.
980 is Silver Metalic from 1987. Maybe a custom paint job?
Gotcha, well ordering a matching touch up paint for chips will be fun.
Thanks for the insight. D²
Actually, to pick the right color from the chips was easier than I thought; just make sure you are outside in natural light. We both agreed on the same chip and the match is perfect.
