Help[.... My 89 C4 has developed an issue following a recent cold snap and Ice storm.
Following a long night and after getting a quarter inch of ice of my Beast in 9 deg F temps and starting it up
my door open gong refused to stop and my Interiior lights stayed on even thought the doors were closed.
At first, opening and re-closing the doors did nothing, unless I activated my interior lights,
at first, and closing only the passenger door the alarm and light would cease for about
1 second when it would again activate. I am assuming this was just long enough for the c
omputer to test the system.
Later after getting home and some sleep (worked 12 hr night shift), I checked the system again
in 34 deg temps, now the passenger door no longer had any effect.
I have pulled out both door switches and the wires are still connected,
I also hosed both out with contact cleaner again no effect.
There is no corresion, Also I have checked the luggage boot light and yes the arm was depressed but
correcting this also had no effect. I am at a loss as to what is causing this issue. With the interior lights activated
I believe that this rules out the headlight on circuit as well as the low hydrolic pressure circuit. I currently have
disconnected the gong.
I have new door switchs and waiting for a break in the temps to replace them.
Has anyone got any ideas? .
