LONDON 964 OWNERS - 12th meet 4th Dec- PICTURES!!!

Three Wheelin'
Here goes
(BTW this is copied from another thread elsewhere, not my own work )
The standard 964 injection system uses a barn door type volumetric air flow meter and two throttle switches (idle & WOT or Wide Open Throttle). The ecu runs on three basic maps: idle, WOT & part throttle where it uses the signal from the AFM. The problem with this set up is that the AFM is slow to resond and is not calibrated for the full scale of air flow demand (it opens fully at approximately 4000rpm & above 70% throttle) and therefore without accurate re-mapping of all 3 maps the fuel supplied does not perfectly match the engine demand.
Hot film is another name for MAF or Mass Air Flow, in the case of these conversions the MAF unit is a hot film device which cools down as the air flows over it, so giving a calibrated voltage to the ecu depending on the mass flow of air into the engine (obviously). The range of the MAF allows the ecu to run on one main map which covers the full scale of operation from idle to redline and from zero to full throttle. In theory once the MAF is calibrated (chipped) the mass air flow and fuel supply will be a constant relationship and therefore the ecu should supply optimum fuelling at all times. This is the system fitted to the 993 and later Porsches as standard.

Hot film, yeah i'm interested about this one... spoke to my indy and he says there would be quite a long list of things to do... inc changing my engine manifold to the later plastic kind etc, etc... are you finding the same thing? What would be the whole procedure, parts?
Mind you ...pic attached!
It seems like quite an expensive upgrade... worthwhile... but expensive...
I think my next big thing will be handling:
New coils and dampers... it seems Bilsteins are the way to go... what feedback and setups do you all have? Kw3? H&Rs?
Front strut brace and new H&R sway bars to bring in the C4.... all this should help with my first track day with the car... at Donington Park, seems theres a big group of 964s, anyone game... Strega, want to put the role cage to use?
Also am I right in understanding no one here has done the steve wong chip?
Mind you ...pic attached!

Here is what is needed in terms of parts.
http://www.fvd.de/de/en/Porsche-0/-/...964-89-94.html
Not sure about the added 50bhp, but the engine does become more reponsive.

9M do supercharger conversions - I very nearly got mine done many years ago, but at the time it meant losing your rear blower (not true anymore I believe) and for a daily car, that didn't make sense to me.
Hot film has been discussed many times in the past, and - much like chips - opinion on whether it's worth it is quite divided.

Er - that's a pic of a supercharger, not hot film!

Also is it 9m's own home built supercharger?
I think a supercharger is just not financially viable, so I'll probs go down the FVD film process....

Will definitely get to this one.
Note to self, Dont start stripping parts off on Saturday when you are going out Sunday!!
Looks like you need another red one to add some colour to all those photos too.
Bob.

I'm planning on coming, just need to work on the misses a bit before I confirm, as it's the weekend of her birthday...
I'll take her out on Saturday and then use the angle 'she can have a nice lay in on Sunday' - that should work!
