Default I want to change my carpet, differences between domestic cut-pile and silverknit?

Hi guys,

I'm going to change my carpet but i see in pelicanparts and appbiz that I can choose between two different models, Silverknit (777$) and Domestic Cut-pile (443$).

Of course that I was thinking to buy the cheapest.., but do you know the differences?

regards!!

I don't know if this will help, but Pelican has pictures (not the best) of both types.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg2.htm#item5

You could e-mail them and ask them the difference.

For some reason the silverknit looks 'softer' & plusher in it's picture than the cut pile.
(If so, I wonder if silverknit would be less durable [due to finer fibers]?)

I know, I know... that's all rank speculation, having no connection to reality.
("And, now, for my next fete, I'll now predict the pictured carpets'... aroma!")

Wonder if you could get a sample?

Silverknit is the German OEM carpet. Domestic cut-pile is close to original, but you can tell if you have them both side-by-side...... which you won't when fully installed.

I send an email to pelicanparts, but I think I will buy the cheapest.. I had the same situation with my roof, I choose the cheapest and is perfect!

The German OEM Carpet is all one color fibers, the Domestic Cut Pile has some color and clear recycled fibers which under sunlight become shiny. The Factory Carpet stays one color and looks really high end, I made the decesion a few years back and went with the German Carpet from Performance Products (German, not OEM). It has 22 pieces of carpet that you can remove the old and install the new yourself. The door panels requires a shop to do the work.

SPDADCT. I'm in the planning stage for my carpet redo. Could you elaborate on why you need a shop for the door panels.

I found a carpet in Lakewell.com and it look fantastic, 480€ plus shipping.

I think I will pay more for that one, which is Silverknit (German original)
