As its that time of year and we've just had our first major snowfall my 964 is now parked up in the garage for the winter.
im looking around for a good quality car cover - anyone got any particular recommendations, or ones that I should avoid?
Thanks in advance

Just seen this company in this months 911+pw, no experience of them but I think they make covers to fit your car.

If truly 'parked for the winter', perhaps a simple cotton throw-cover would do, since the garage's roof will be your weather protection.
(Or, if so... why not park w/o a cover?)
Otherwise, I guess I'm (as usual) a bit confused.
What's the parking environment/damage you're looking to protect against?

The simple Porsche covers (silver) just fine. Gert (Carnewal) also has some very high quality covers. They are $$$ and you will have to pay a duty when it arrives.
I have one of each. Very happy with both.

I had the Porsche Silvergard cover for my Boxster and liked it.
My 964 came with a cotton cover from California Car Covers, and it looks like it will do the job just fine, though being a 'generic', it's fit is not quite as good as the Silvergard cover.
Cheers!

i was thinking of a 14tog duvet for the top & electric blanket for underneath whilst she sits out the snow
C2 . took it out at the weekend & it felt a little twitchy for my liking on the frosty roads , garaged her up

Simple old family double quilt cover cut open as a dust cover. as elbeee says, the roof is the protection and with a cotton cover it can easily breath and keep dust off

thanks guys
elbee/unkle - reason i want something a bit more substantial is that although inside the garage (i.e. under cover) it has a corrugated roof which tends to let dust/leaves etc in during rough weather.
Also, in Aberdeen so the air gets pretty salty, dont want to whip off a duvet in March only to find a pile of rust.

I have an outdoor cover from Classic Additions. Its waterproof, breathable, and can be put on a wet car. C.£80 for the generic 964 cover (ie not tailored to be specifically for a C2 or Turbo etc). Should be perfect for you. To be honest, when I did my research for an outdoor cover I quickly realised all the good brands use the same or very very similar material.

classic additions, +1
I have two covers by them for the cars stored inside and they have protected them for a long time and still look new.
I bought a outdoor one too which is ideal for both uses really and cheap for the quality.

I'm testing one of the Classic Additions breathable covers for my next T911 update.
They are brilliant. There's a good few inches of snow on my 964, yet under the cover, the car is still sparkly clean, almost totally dry and only has a couple of spots of ice on - which I'm fairly sure are from where I washed it before putting the cover on. Definitely a must have if you keep your car outside, cold weather or not.

Have no experience with this product but thought it was an interesting idea. An inflatable bag that you store your car inside. http://www.carcapsule.com/home.htm

The above item,
I have one, its called a carcoon in the uk and is made in Manchester the one in the picture is a indoor mine is silver with a green lining so double skinned.
I bought it five years ago and its great for the winter lay-up but it requires a permanent 240 volt supply really, but it will run off the car battery and the plug-in side of it is a battery conditioner.
Very good item and even in the harsh weather in the uk at this moment the car is totally damp free.
Gaz,
ps, as a quick on and off solution this isn't for you, but everyone who's seen mine in action has bought one,I cannot find a three car garaged house yet.
