This [below] easy-hp buttload of iron is an LS1; now residing in the tail of that (what, 3.2L?) Carrera.
(LS1 = chevy small block)
Actually it's a 5th Gen LS1 which is an Aluminum block.
Renagade Hybrids has made themselves a who industry out of coverting Porsche, not just 911s but 914s, 997s, 928s, 944 by putting LS1 in them. They claim it's more power, less drama, easier to drive, more cost effective, and better economy than what the Porsche factory built.
The newer LS1 motors weigh less than a 964's 3.6 (around 480lbs stock versus 510). Not sure of the weight differences between transmissions & cooling systems though, and the center of gravity of the LS1 is probably high enough to negate the advantage of its lower weight.
There used to be a guy here years ago, george 911-v8 always a hilarious exchange about the "purist" vs the "real" car guy... In my mind the engine is what makes a Porsche what it is... If you need to jamb a big engine in something to go fast it's in the wrong place, better off with a vette...

Pretty sure LS1's were Gen.-III. Most likely the guy's running an aluminum block, though LS1's also came in the iron flavor (for the truck crowd.) I'm not cognizant of the tells in telling the two apart, but somebody LS1-smart may be able to ID it as aluminum from the guy's video.

If there's a better way to make a 911 scoot around a track, I'm fairly sure more folks would be 'hybriding'.
I've got this sneaking suspicion that wet-sump + higher CG make for a less track-friendly rig.
But I see plenty of straight-line blvd romps and parking lot cookies in their advertising!
The drag racing crowd likely gets a kick out of these hybrids. (Though I doubt the 915 trannys do...)
