Default When you replace engine mounts...

Anyone replacing engine mounts, give some thought to the clearance between engine/ancillaries and engine-lid. I just realised that my new (993, since you ask...) mounts mean a sharp edge on the spoiler grille just fouls one of my air-con pipes and is cutting into it. Easy to fix with some protective wrap over the pipe (that's what's shown below the cut waiting to be slid into place), or a Dremel to the offending piece of the grille, but worth looking our for once your engine sits that little bit higher than before.

Thanks for the heads up, had to go out and check mine.
My bracket is different than yours, made of plastic, it holds them in place further out of the way, more like side by each instead of in top of each.

I am installing 964RS mounts this winter, I will definitely watch out for this.

I just replaced with stock 964 mounts. My old mounts were sagging about 15 mm after they were removed. I wish I could say that after close to $700 in new parts, the change was dramatic. I can barely tell any difference, but I knew mine were saggy and needed replacement.

I too have replaced my mounts recently and have the plastic aircon clamp just like CRG53's. I have not had a problem.

There really shouldn't any reason the motor would sit up higher than a good stock 964 mount.

They look different but all the measurements come out within 1mm if you use the 993 mount.

What are the symptoms of bad mounts? How would you know if they are bad?

Look at them. You can see if they are sagging or leaking.

Other subtle signs noise, rattles groans, hard to shift, rear squriming around, tail pipe lower than where it sould be.

I think I've just found the reason for weird (vibration/drilling) noise I hear when I turn on the AC? I found the same marks on my lines.

I hear a gnawing, vibrating sound in the cabin when I turn on the AC. It grows and wains with the engine RPM, and only when the AC compressor is on.

Thanks John, I think I've found the problem.
