Default Early/late 964 engine lid latch swap?

I'm looking at an engine lid for sale. It is from a 1990 car so has the early cylindrical/'pin-type' male latch on the lid.

My car is a 1992 so has the later 'bar-type' male latch on the lid.

Can I replace the early pin with the later bar so the early lid will fit my RS? Is it just a straight two bolt swap?

Cheers

I would have thought you could take the part of the latch on your current lid and transfer it to the replacement lid. It will then operate as it does now.

AFAIK the main difference is the early latches are spring loaded so that they unlock if the pull cable snaps. The later latches have an emergency release cable in the tail light in case the pull cable snaps.

Cheers Steve that's what I was thinking. Just wanted to check the two bolt holes were in the same location on early/late.

Edited to add: It doesn't really matter anymore as Douglas Valley have sent me pics of the lid and it's damaged. It just happened to be GP White and would have been an easy straight swap for mine if it was perfect. They also wanted £425 + delivery + VAT. I've got another one anyway so will proceed with getting it sprayed perfectly to match my car.

I think the early latched were part of an official recall.... I know mine was. Maybe you should check as you might have been missed out?????

Good to see that DV haven't lost their knack for selling rubbish at ridiculously high prices!

Good luck with the other one
