Default Chip Install Headache

I am having problems switching chips in my 964

What should the base chip socket look like?

In the photos below, do I have some sort of weird adapter that I need to pull off before installing a new chip or OEM chip?

Your urgent help would be appreciated. If I can get this sorted in the next 3 hours, then I can get my car going & then register for my first track day before the cut-off deadline! Mid night is not far away!

HI there

I did mine last week. The chip simply pulled out and the new one just pushes straight back in. Just be careful that you dont bend the legs when putting the new one in.
I put one side in slightly and then the other side with gentle persuasion.

hi lee,

do you have that second layer of black socket & a green board on top? or should I pull off the green board and discard along with the old aftermarket chip?

I finally worked it out! There should only be that first thin black plastic plate! That second black adapter with the green plate on top needed to be pulled off.
