Default Nice day for 911 viewing

Was driving home from a camping trip on Sunday in Central Michigan and saw 3 nice 911's. I saw a Gurads Red 964 northbound on Highway 131 near Kalamazoo (anyone here?) and a Guards Red 993 headed East on 80/90 near Elkhart, IN. Then, I ran across this, also near Elkhart.

Sorry for the smudges on the window, but we were camping and those things happen.

It was definitely cruise weather this past weekend. In addition to two impact-bumper 911 Targas, I drove past a group of ~10 new Porsches from New Hampshire, it looked like they were on a dealer-sponsored cruise. 997s including a turbo & turbo cab, Boxsters, Caymans, a Cayenne, even a Panamera.

But the highlight was something very unexpected - a lime green '70 Plymouth Superbird on a winding backroad in Concord MA.

isn't that an outlaw 911? I think they were at Parade this year in St. Charles IL.

Yup, that'd be your non-basic 'hotrod'.
(A basic hotrod dealing more with underpinnings, motor, interior, colors, etc.)

This fellow has gone a bit beyond that. Faired tail, bumperless, chopped-windscreen convertible(?)/spyder. Your basic "what-if" longhood, LWB speedster.

Me Likee.

(Cosmetically, I'd have gone with polished wheel petals instead of all-black centers. And nixed the center body stripe. Red interior. But that's just me...)

Not feeling it. Too many different themes make a lousy Frankenporsche.

We saw a bunch of old Beetles on the way up to The Bend this weekend. Was there a VW / Porsche show anywhere near South Bend? Ironically we had one in Cinci but missed it do to traveling.

The Chicago Audi Club had an event at the local Tire Rack on Saturday, maybe that was what where they were headed?

And coming from the wrong direction even.

I meant all the VW's that Doug&Julie saw.

all things are personal, bit i agree with you....
front & rear end treatment stripes, shaved doors, single exhaust & lack of "streetability".

for (likely much less) and albeit cannot attend PCNA events....i would rather have this for "when the sun shines" (with some ability to handle being caught in the rain), & with modified 3.2 so quick on the streets.....

Gentlemen that is the newly restored Stan Townes 911 Speedster.

A very well known car in early 911 circles that has just re-emerged

Like the look from the rear. A little too tall from the side.
