Default Rear tail light gasket

Hi all,

I am going to replace the cracked tail lights and reflector. However, I confuse on the gasket when ordering. Did #21 and #22 replace #16?

On the other hand, do I need order #4? Did #4 is come with the rear reflector?
My 964 is 1991.

Thanks a lot.

I believe you can leave 16 out. (My '93 came that way to me, and I've seen RSA's that came without it.)
Further, I think 16 was a first year ('89) notion subsequently dropped by the factory (as unnecessary?) on later years.

The 21 & 22 taillight gasketry I have.

I'll leave to others the question of that middle-span gasket. ('Cuz I don't know!)

I purchased new rear lamps, including the reflector and new gaskets are not included.

my91 had #16. I seem to remember the redesigned tail lights didnt need them. I didnt use them when I replaced my lights and had no problem.

Thanks. Did they look weird that like a gap in between fender and tail light?

My '92 doesn't have them either. I think it kinda looks funny though, and if I ever do a tail light out job (like applying film), I'll probably add them back in. It looks like somethings missing to me.

When I ordered a replacement tail light for my 90. # 16 gasket was included. So you might want to check.

It is interesting that Porsche seems to have stopped using the gasket after a few years of production.
My 92 was delivered new without the #16 gasket. I also recently replaced all my tail lights and was able to sort through my dealers inventory to pick out "good ones".
I went through 5 different boxes of recently ordered NOS lights and did not see one #16 gasket.
I now wonder if I had ordered lights for a '90, would the #16 gasket have been included?

"Newsboy" Steven, when did you order the new light for your '90?

I ordered from type 911 (UK), when open the box, seems no gasket included.
Where you order from?

My car has the no. 16 gasket. My rear lights were slowly filling up with water in bad weather so I replaced the gaskets and problem solved so in my case they definately perform a function.
