rubber/plastic air duct
Just another newbie question. I noticed that the rubber/plastic air duct (964.106.403.02) was partially trashed. I have removed from the heater air duct and ordered a replacement. Should I refrain from driving until the new part is installed?
Thank you as always.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, personally.
This is a pretty common failure - the rubber gets old and tired from all that engine bay heat and it breaks.
When this happened to me, I made sure no pieces of the existing one were going to fall downward, and continued driving. Replaced when the new part arrived.
Is your blower motor still in place / connected?

I don't know if the amount of cooling air freely flowing out that vacant hole (and not going to cool the fins of your cylinders) would be substantial... But why risk it?
Plug the hole would be my inclination, or leave it parked.
You can "go ugly" with a temporary patch over that hole: use aluminum duct tape. It's meant for higher temps, and you can fold it around edges nicely for additional cling.
The stuff's relatively cheap at Lowes/Home Depot.

Thanks all. I will only use around town if needed. Part should be here in a week. Good idea on the duct tape, Iam heading to Home Depot for an avocado tree

I drove mine with a big hole in it for a couple weeks until I got it replace.
I look at my engine almost everyday, and I knew it was getting kind of ratty. One day it was there and the next a big piece fell of.

Yes it seems to come off in chunks. I removed mine because the salesman at Zim's said there were two types and it was best to remove and check the parts number and not rely on the catalog. So I easily removed it and of course there was not Porsche part number stamped on the plastic.
Thanks to all for the assistance.
