Default Weird PDAS alarm

On the highway only (when I drive above 60 continually), I get the PDAS alarm every 7-8 minutes. Stopping th eengine and restarting cancels it and it comes again.

The Hammer says "DTC 13, transverse accelerator signal non plausible/not present, speed 102 Km/h"

Anyone ever had this?

Only thing I can think of is that I R/R the sensor mounting plate when I changed the carpet, which is the last wrenching I did before this appeared.

George,

The Hammer code would suggest that the accelerometer is not connected. Check the connecting plug first. Otherwise, they have a habit of gumming up with metal sludge and that stops the pendulum moving. To check it you need to pop off the cover and carefully clean out the residue from under the pendulum with some electronics cleaner and a stiff brush. Just hope you don't need a new one!!!

Regards

Dave

Thank you Dave! I'll look in to that this weekend. I don't have time before. Luckily (it's my DD) I won't be going on the highway until then.

When I removed my accelerometers to clean them, I found that one was covered with carpet glue from the assembly of the car, and that glue was all over the inside of the connector. I cleaned the plug and the alarms disappeared.

George, I had a similar gremlin a few years back that took forever to figure out. I replaced both coils (that tested fine) and the problem never re-appeared. And at only around $50 per coil possibly one of the cheapest fixes ever (have you priced out an accelerometer!)

OK, took the accelerometer out, cleaned the connector, opened the casing and it was clean as a whistle inside. Let's hope it does not come back...

Update:
Cleaning the accelerometer did not help.
I lucked into a good functioning used one for *very* cheap, fitted it this morning and went for a highway drive. Seems to work, no alarm popped up.
