Congrats on the expected baby, get some extra sleep now you will need it!

I thought the 993 was the next step for me but after 8 months I am back in a 964 and very happy. Not that I did not like the 993, just missed the 964 experience. Now if I could only put that 285 hp 993 varioram engine in my 964...

Tuscany 964: I have thought about buying a GT3 but they are still depreciating at a significant rate. I think a 964 with RS upgrades would costyou less in the long run, at least in the US. A good 964 is $20k, another $10k in upgrades and you have $30k into the car-and you could probably sell it for $25k in 5 years. 996 GT3 here is $60k. With the GT3 still depreciating I think it would take many years before you could "break even" or come close. I don't think you can go wrong with either car but the 964 would be the cheaper route, assuming the 964 does not need an engine rebuild. Maybe in Italy the pricing is different?

Default 91 964 C2

Yeah...forget the 993

I just got back from 3 days at VIR with the PCA DE program
and I just love pushing my C2 around the track
My buddy has a '99 993 and he may be faster than me on the straights
but I always catch up at the corners with the 964

Classic black..3.6...slightly modified..about 275 hp

All the thrill I am ever going to need...

You may want to manually raise your rear spoiler and make sure the accordion air dam is not toast. It's an easy DIY repair and you can order the part from Sunset.

My mechanic has an RSA with most of the mods I listed above and he's asking €40K. I've looked into building one myself starting with a €20-25K C2 but I don't think it could be done any cheaper unless you got really lucky sourcing parts (like the 6spd 'box) and do everything yourself which would be impossible for me anyway. In addition to this his has only 90K Km and and he has rebuilt the engine recently due to a bent valve. He is a very good P car specialist and big 964 fan (he also has a pristine Euro RS and a 6 spd 3.3 Turbo). In other words the car is in excellent condition and would come with a warranty - hard to beat unless you do a full rebuild yourself.

Up until a few weeks ago you could find 6 GT3's in the region of €40-45K. Now for some odd reasons there are none below €49k. But as you say depreciation has not finished on the GT3. And I love my car so I'm in no hurry to get rid of it. But as soon as I find a 6 GT3 Clubsport at under €40k it's mine!

993James993 - It was the first thing I did as I needed to get the wing up to remove the offending part. The rest of the air dam appears just fine.
