Default Alarm LED light

I have tried searching but i could not find the answer to this. The alarm LED light on the passenger door is lit solid after locking the car (a 1990 C2). The LED light on the drivers door is blinking as normal. What does the solid light mean, is there a fault somewhere?

The button contains the flashing LED and is a sealed component. The LEDs flash independently and not from a pulsed supply. If you have a light, you have power and the alarm is working - only the LED flasher has failed.

The power to the flashing LED is supplied via an induction coil that surrounds the button. I had a similar problem on my car with one light being on when locked and it turned out to be a broken (i.e. faulty) induction coil. It wasn't an expensive replacement.

The strange thing is that last season the light was solid. This year the light was flashing until I removed the battery. When I hooked up the battery again, the light was solid. Is this still a symptom of a failed induction coil?

It might be worth popping off the top door trim and checking the connections of the induction coil with the wiring loom. It's possible a bad connection might be at the root of the problem. You can always try the coil from the other door if you're unsure.
