Default Reverse Gear shift lock-out

Has any one made a reverse gear lock out, a device that would keep you from down shifting into reverse by accident when downshifting to first. Looking for ideas

Yep, I can help you with this. Check out the Seine Gate shift kit if you have a 901 or 915 gearbox. There should already be a lock out though in your 964 gearbox. What gearbox and car is this for? You could also put a stronger spring in there to help this as well. This might actually be the problem that you are experiencing. Your lock out spring may have been removed for a lighter one, or it may have broken.

Hope that this helps.

Is for a G50 - 5 speed - There is a lock out / but it is not a effective system as one can still go into reverse by mistake. Good idea on the stronger lock out spring -
I am looking for a real LOCK-OUT though, something that you would have to flip a plate up or move before you could go into reverse -

shift to 2nd then up to first to make sure you're not on reverse.

I wish it were so, and my wallet wishes it were so.

My 1st ever AX in the 964 had a very tight finish, such that I was convinced 1st gear was needed. And it worked just fine until my last lap, when I ham-fisted the shift, got reverse, and then KABOOM.

My mechanic told me that there were actually bits of my gear box that were welded together that were not supposed to be welded together.

Here's one I saw on a pro raced 993. Pretty simple, I'm guessing that little flap is spring loaded down.
