Default Strut Brace Design

Hi,

I am looking at this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...T#ht_720wt_911

A UK company are supplying them and it seems to have 2 possible advantages, it looks like it might fit under the carpet, and it secures at both sides of the top mount and not just the front fixings.

Does it seem like a good idea? I can't think of a reason why it would be a worse design than many others, as it might distribute the load across the complete area, but will listen to the knowledge of rennlist experts

I have the same model, bought from Simon when he was operating as Essential Styling. The strut brace is made by KLA Industries in the US (click here) and you might be able to save some $$$ if you buy from them direct.

It DOES fit under the carpet BTW.

Regards

Dave

Thanks

Using the xe currency converter it work out about £5 cheaper from the US. Not bad but probably will go with the UK as it saves the hassle, but appreciate the suggestion.

What is it like? Is the quality good? Did you notice it?

I doubt that the larger mounts would make any difference for "normal" use and associated stress. The important bit is that the brace needs to be between the mounting points to prevent compression/stretch so the rear mount bolts appear to serve little purpose. I use a carbon fibre brace fitted to the front mounting points only and it easily fits under the carpet with no cutting.

Hi harry, where did you get your one from?

I'm not keen to cut the carpet TBH, but don't want to spend a load of cash on essentially a bar of metal or carbon

Can't remember now. I was fortunate to find an Ebay dealer who was clearing out stock - I bought two at low prices and later sold one on to recover all my costs!
