I've been told that there is a switch on the clutch pedal that is frequently the cause of cruise problems. You may want to check that.

Rob is correct in pointing out the micro-switch on the clutch as a potential cause. It must be indicating the clutch is not pressed for the cruise control to work.

Another possibility (happened to me) is a loose connection on the cable bulkhead at the front left of the engine behind the fan motor. This is where most of the cables for the engine, including the cruise control, are terminated for easy disconnect on engine removal. Until I re-seated the cruise cable on my car it did not work properly.

Good luck,

Jim

Mine is intermittent and when it is not working, I use the top of my foot to lift up on the clutch (or maybe brake - cannot remember) and it starts working again.
