Hey, Mark! This has nothing to do with your thread, but since I saw where you are, I thought I might say hi. We go to a cottage up on China Lake ME each summer. Have to pick up a son at the Portland airport towards the end of July on a Saturday. Maybe I can stop by first and see your car? Mine is in the shop so I need a fix! Always nice to shoot the breeze with another 964 owner.

Long shot but, is it possible the connection between the flywheel and the crankshaft is compromised? If the ring gear moves then it should be easy enough to see if the flywheel moves. If it does move, then turning the engine from the other end with a wrench on the crankshaft bolt while observing the ring gear/flywheel will verify the connection.
