Default Exhausted

Very busy weekend. no Porsche time except to move it when an oil container developed a leak in the corner of the garage. Had to finally take my old oil to the recycler, and clean up the mess the few quarts of leaked oil left on my garage floor.

Wedding weekend, my first of the season. It's tiring chasing the Bride around, and all the "can you take a picture of us" stuff, but it was a great wedding, great couple, and great fun capturing the moment for them. Now I have over 1500 images to cull and then edit the remaining pics.

Gearing up for Parade this weekend. Going to the Concour on Sunday, and 2 driving events/tours on Mon and Tuesday. Friends coming in Saturday and we're going to see Rush at the worlds largest music festival- Summerfest. Going to be a busy, tiring weekend. I better sleep well the days before

I have a great weekend. I finished three projects on the 964 on Saturday. I confirmed that my tire rubbing issue is solved. My 6.25mm spacers on the rear solved my rubbing problem. Horay! I then tackled the front bumper's smile. It was a lot easier than I expected. I wish I hadn't waited 2 years to fix it. While fixing it, I cleaned the oil cooler and A/C condenser. The condenser had a handful of debris at the bottom of it. And the oil cooler had remnants of an oil leak. I cleaned both thoroughly. I also used a die grinder with a wire wheel to remove the surface rust of the floor pan. I put on a coat of zinc primer and enamel. I had to use 1/2 inch nylon spacers in the center. The car looks so much better. Lastly, I installed the sunroof headliner. Sliding it in was tricky but very doable. With the bumper and headline complete, the car looks finished again.

Sunday, I took it easy. Worked on the Sunday crossword. One "surprise" activity on Sunday. I went to lunch with my girlfriend and we stopped by her condo after. When we went in she walked across her living room and jumped! There was a dead mouse on the carpet. She has two indoor cats. As she was sweeping the mouse into a dust pan, she noticed another. Then another. In total, there were 4 mice. One adult and 3 small ones. My girlfriend decided that the entire house needed to be cleaned and sanitized. As we were cleaning, another mouse ran across the carpet. Fortunately, I was able to capture it under a bowl in the bathroom. I then took it outside and released it. I'm in hopes that that is the last of the mice. The girlfriend is not happy about this.

I finally threw out the rotting soundproofing in the front foot wells and made some wooden floor boards. Had to spend a while re-routing some untidy wiring that was in the way first but saved myself 3 Kg by putting the boards in place of the sound proofing:

I got some great shots at Parts Obsolete, but that's about it. My wife had us both out in the yard til well after dark tearing out some old timbers that formed a raised bed garden. She's tough. I now have another half ton of junk to take to the dump. The tally for this season so far is nearing 2.5 tons... ack.

Found out this weekend that PCA Parade for 2011 will be in Savannah, GA.
And that it's being pushed out to late July... and early August.

I was up for the previously planned Killington, VT (cool-June) locale for 2011's Parade.

But pushing Parade into late summer - in coastal GA???
I foresee heat & humidity doing an 'Indiana Jones' on attendees.

Tell me about it!
The wife and I were planning a VT visit for this, but read about the change - and the replacement time & place - looked at each other, and said, "Nope."

(This is some weird stuff since PCA headquarters took over managing Parade, instead of just franchising it out to local chapters.)

Here's hoping 2012's Parade isn't some kind of headquarters 'peace offering' of, say, Buffalo, NY - in February.

OH! - to finally get on topic - I received back my Cup 1's for repair and repaint this weekend. Today they're being rimmed with new Dunlops. And metal air valves. Will take the car in Wed. for its annual VA state inspection, then it's time for me to do the every-other-year valve adjust. Quality time!

re: oil container leaking, sorry for your mess and glad to hear other people have used this method of trip-to-the-recycle motivation. In my case, the plastic of the container broke down, proving my own mini-Valdez. Just proactively took 6 gallon up Sat.

Talking Busy weekend, no Porsche time

Like Hawk I was too busy for any porsche time this weekend too. But an opportunity to post a pic of myself...
First race weekend of the season, I didn't do too well but my daughter kicked some serious butt. Most importantly - didn't break anything!
