Default Porsche 964 3.8RS

Last Sunday was the annual Porsche Club of Queensland (Australia) Concours. Apart from the cars that were to be judged in the concours we had organised a number of cars for display purposes. Among these was a genuine and original 959, a 2.7RS and a Porsche 934 (600 HP +).
I had the very arduous job getting up at 5.30am and driving the Porsche 964 3.8 RS to the display. It was only a couple of kilometres away but there was no way that I was going to miss the opportunity. It is one of only 55 in the world. and 1 of 2 right hand drive.
Lovely car to drive, it was not at all temperamental, still with power steering and with the best exhaust note.
A Porsche enthusiasts wet dream.

I or another rennlister will post a Picasa link with lots of photographs to the event later in the week and then you will see how lucky we are here with some of the best Porsches to found almost anywhere in the world.
cheers Ken

I think that car was featured in Excellence magazine a few years back.
Please tell us that you took more than one picture.....

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience with us. Being around cars like that (let alone driving one) raises your heart rate. A special day for sure.

I also love the specification of your car...

(1991 C2 Coupe, Horizon Blue, Bilsteins, G&M 6211 HA Springs Lowered 30mm, Primary Bypass, Cat Bypass, 18" 3 Piece Wheels, HID Lights, Alum Strut Brace, LWF, RS Alternator Pulley, Heater bypass tube, cone filter, etc etc)

Looks like you are 95% of the way to your own 964 3.8 RS! Horizon Blue must look stunning with big wheels and a lowered stance. Well, all 964s would I guess.

Twood - so that's why you wanted the pic. Here's a pic of the lineup on the day. Rennlisters - all of these belong to one lucky bloke! (I drove the silver 993 RS!)

Regards

Rob

3.8RS. Probably good I wasn't there. I would have dropped to my knees and made a public spectacle of myself.

Yes - that is why I wanted the pic. You think when I had the opportunity to drive a car where is only 2 in the world I was not going not tell the world.
I did mentioned to the owner that the engine has a miss as the revs reaches 7200 but he did not appear too concerned.
An amazing collection owned by a wonderfully generous person (trusting as well-you know how tempting it was to turn left instead of right and just disappear never to be seen again).
This car is the ultimate road/race version of my 964.
After our club magazine comes out at the end of this week with the full story and pictures of the Concours, I hope Rob will post a link to Picasa with the full collection of pictures of the cras he photographed on the day.
Remember, there was a genuine 959 there as well.

Here's a link to some more pics of the day - with some more of the 964 RS 3.8.
Not to mention the uber-rare genuine 934...

Very nice selection of pictures. What a wonderful day you guys had. Thanks for sharing...I'll have to dig out that old issue of Excellence magazine and reread the article.

I love the color diversity of the cars...like this 964 pic. for the Picasa album. Thanks again!
