Minimum Oil Level?
When sorting out the previou bad fitment of the Turbo arch extensions on my car the body shop removed the oil tank under the right rear arch. As a result they reckon between 1 and 2 litres of oil was lost so I need to top the car up when I go to pick it up. Seeing as I don't know how much came out I don't want to overfill it when topping it up cold but at the same time I don't want to run the car without sufficient oil in the system first so any suggestions about how to go about this?

If its only down 1-2 liters, I would start it up and drive it until warm. Then check and adjust the oil level as you normally would. If you are down 5-6 liters, then I'm not sure what the best/safest strategy would be.

If it is only a couple of liters of oil, I would go for a drive (bring some oil with you) and then check the oil level when the thermostat is open; there is plenty of oil in the system to support normal driving.

If they had the tank out how did they only loose 1-2 liters ?
If you start up the motor and you see oil pressure , you have enough oil to run the motor ,
if on the other hand your oil pump is sucking/pumping air ...

Kept the oil and that was what was lost during removal. If they had let me know beforehand I would have provided them with fresh oil to refill it but suffice to say I will be taking it for an oil change next week.
