All of the 7" wheels I've seen used or approved for use in the front of a 964 have an offset of ET55 so I would be careful there. If you don't already have the wheels and/or aren't totally committed to the style I'm going to be selling a set of the Porsche BBS Sport Classic 17s (7s and 9s) in perfect condition that came off my 91 C2 Cab so I know they will fit. Here is a pic if your not familiar with this wheel style (this is a replica but you will get the idea).

Oh...and you do know that if your going from 16 to 17 inch wheels you will need to replace the stock 6mm steering stop with a 10mm one? In addition you will need to do a small fix to a bracket in the wheel well that will rub if not dealt with. Here is a handy doc if you've not seen it.

Both should be fine. An ET55 front wheel will only protrude a few mms more than a standard wheel and will give a little more clearance for the wheel on full steering lock.

The rears are fine. A 10J/ET47 fits OK so a 9J/ET55 will have plenty of clearance.

Regards

Dave

The 10mm steering stops effectively reduce the turning circle of the car by reducing the angle to which the wheels can be turned. This helps the problem encountered with some 17" wheels by leaving some additional clearance when on full lock. 5mm spacers will achieve much the same result without restricting the steering lock. It all depends on the offset of the 17" wheels. The reply I wrote above mentioned ET55 front wheels but I notice that your original post states ET50 (did you change it or did I mis-read it?). An ET55 wheel with a 5mm spacer/shim is the same as an ET50 wheel without the spacer.

Regards

Dave

i've been using the cup II (993 wheels) in my 964 C4, 7 et 55 and 9 et 55 without problems; and et 50 is better in the front to prevent rubbing with 225 tyres.

I went to 17" without changing the stops and only get a tiny bit of rubbing from the tires on the inside at full lock. I havent ever read about the other rubbing spot. Guess I need to check that.
