Default Cab Rear Break Light - Delete

What a kick *** forum! I love you guys

On another thread someone talked about removing the nasty joystick-like break light that popes out above the hood - an eye sore to say the least.

I'm wondering if anyone has done this, and has a solution for what to put in the space? Any before/after pics would be really helpful too.

Looking forward to making that go away!!

Mine's gone, and while in the body shop, they put some filler plugs in there. Not the prettiest thing, but you really need to look for it. Way better that ET on the back of my car, though!

Do you have to pass a DMV inspection? I do not think I can remove mine.

We have 'emissions' in GA, and they check the lights during that test, but I think people figure it's an old car and I've never been questioned on it once. I've been stopped by the cops, too, but always for something different and it hasn't been mentioned.

I just went out to take a photo and noticed that the plugs are no longer there! One of two things happened -
1) when I had the MA Shaw RSA-type wing added, it covered it up.
or
2) when I had it painted last year, they just 'glassed over it, or something to the effect.

Get rid of that stupid thing, I say!

Unless you don't want to lose points in the concours...

it was difficult decision, since the car had collector plate/concours "material", but its a relatively easy reinstall (i have kept ET), and i just got sick of looking at the thing. I actually bought a MA Shaw wing, but decided against the look before installing it.

Had a pro shop do the 2 holes/respray in conjunction with respray of the rear bumper (scratches) & front bumper (stone chips).

Euro cabs/Asian cabs never had a 3rd brakelight in 964/993 series....so figured if they continue to survivie in London, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, etc etc (which they do very well indeed)....safety may not be the issue. Only study I could find on "success of 3rd brakelight" as to accident prevention was one done in Australia (can no longer find it).....and results of study indicated no discernible difference in terms of accident prevention ( with 3rd brakelight).

After
