Default What are these?

Is this a symptom of a gross oil overfilling?

Looks like heavy emulsified oil. Typical or overfilling or something else?

Also, the long hose running from this canister to the intake is dry-rotted and needs replacing. This currently has a VW/Audi part number, but can anyone tell me what it is so I can reorder the correct unit?

Thanks again,
Matt

Looks like what's left from a failed thermostat.

My breather hoses had that same oil-water emulsion in them when I dropped my engines. I cleaned it out but am not worried about it. I suspect its in all of our cars but perhaps a professional mechanic can speak to this?

As for the other hose, I'm not sure which one you are referring to. Can you spot it on this diagram?

It looks like the oil return line, part # 930.107.397.03; # 1 in the picture.

That's correct for a turbo, but for his car it looks like one of the breather hoses that fits to the top of the oil tank - not sure which one offhand.
