Default wheel hub play???

I removed old bearing from front wheel hub and installed the new one with my shop press. I can wiggle the hub around with the new bearing installed, is this normal???? I put the old bearing back in and it is the same way. I bought new *** bearings.

Jerry, it is my understanding that these are "angular contact bearings" therefore until you put preload on the inner race, they will have play in them, but I could be completely off the map.

Yes, when you mount them and tighten them up, the major part of the clearance in the bearings will disappear. The outer race is one piece, the inner race is 2 pieces that float, when you put preload on the bearing the inner races are pushed together and will leave just enough room for the ***** or rollers to move freely.
