Steve

How busy do these track days get? all bunched up in the corners or fairly safe?

With good organisers like Easytrack they're inherently safe because they attract enthusiasts that are often experienced trackday drivers and obey the rules. Oulton Park is a long track with a good balance of straights and corners so it's easy to let faster cars/drivers past. So it's rare to get bunching on circuit. There's a limit to how many cars are allowed on circuit at a time. I think it's about 35 at OP but if you don't find yourself queuing that means the capacity has not been reached. Easytrack don't overbook their days so queuing is quite rare once the initial morning and after lunch rush is over.

Being safe on track is ultimately down to yourself. Drive in your own comfort zone and be alert to what is behind you and in front of you. Let any cars hassling you from behind pass you on the straights by indicating and lifting off the gas. Having seen you at Curborough you can clearly handle your car but you would benefit from booking yourself a slot or two with one of the professional instructors on your first proper trackday. They will show you the way round, what to do and not do on particular corners (OP is quite technical) and put you at ease.

The open pitlane format means you can go on as much as little as you like but the general rule is to go out for 15 minutes and then come in for at least 15 while you and the car cool down. You can also jump in the passenger seats of others' cars and experience what the circuit is like from a different angle.

Thanks for the info.

Sounds tempting. Was just worried about somebody doing a recless dive down the inside or spinning out in front of me. My insureance company will not do cover for track days which is the main reason I have been doing the air field runs nobody to crash nto me.

Hmm I'll have a think about it.

Cheers

If you don't want to track your own car you can come along for passenger rides and enjoy the day out.

It's 105 db Kevin. Most at the recent RS day were let on. It was only the really noisy ones (108+) that were told to quieten them down somehow before they would be let on. 105 was also the limit at Curborough....you passed that one

It's already looking like a tremendous turnout......see list in first post.

We've got a couple of garages booked too which are good for shelter, dumping tools and other gear and for the now traditional cakes and coffee

If anyone wants an instructor for the day, let me know and I'll contact one of the local guys for you. Up to three sharing an instructor would work out at about 80 quid each for his time.
